The comparison between the prospective change in Mexico's electricity policy in 2018 and the current electricity production capacity reveals the 21,607 MW gap and the critical situation the country faces in terms of energy generation. Thus, despite having an installed capacity of 68% and 67% in wind and photovoltaic parks respectively, electricity generation from these renewable sources must improve if Mexico wants to climb positions in the achievement of sustainable energy and climate change goals.
